2. The electric streetcar was popular among the people in cities in the United States after 1880. During the next 20 or 30 years, from 1880 on wards, the electric streetcar was very popular with passengers in big cities all overs the USA.
It was not polluting, very efficient, carrying large numbers of passengers without costing much money for the passengers. Eventually the situation was that all the streetcars disappeared, and cars completely took over all the city streets.
